A lovely and colorful redbud, Carolina Sweetheart keeps up its showy performance even after blooming. The show begins in early to mid spring, when rosy purple flowers open along the branches. It continues when the leaves arrive shortly afterward. Graceful and heart-shaped, the variegated leaves open like a kaleidoscope of changing shades of pink, red, white, purple and green. The tree grows to 20 ft. to 30 ft. tall and has an umbrella-like shape. It works great as a specimen plant or grouped with other woodland species.
