This will make sure that you have a perfectly-sized door for your dog. Start with a large piece of cardboard and cutout a 6.5 in. W x 7 in. H (Petite), 6 in. W x 10 in. H (Small), 9 in. W x 13 in. H (Medium) or 11 in. W x 17 in. H (Large) opening. The top of the opening should be 1 in. higher than your pet at the shoulders.
