Linden trees have so many uses that it’s hard to even begin listing them. Due to their importance to different cultures, they have different names in different regions but the two most popular are Linden and Limewood. Since they are rapid growers, Linden trees provide an instant swath of deep shade wherever they are planted. The large and uniquely heart-shaped leaves make up a dense foliage which casts a perfect shaded area quickly. In spring the Linden tree produces the large and fragrant Lime-Blossoms for which it is famous. These Lime-Blossoms not only smell amazing, their pollen helps bees make some of the worlds most extraordinarily delicious honey. Lime-Blossoms are also used for perfumes and turned into tea for medicinal purposes such as lowering stress and cold/flu remedies. Limewood itself among the softest and easiest to carve in the world while still maintaining strength. In the 15th Century, Germanic tribes would actually carve their shields from Limewood and sculptures carved from this time period are still on display in Europe. Modern uses include wind and percussion instruments, guitars, sculptures, and marionettes. The Linden tree is truly a natural wonder and will make a great addition to your home.
