A stately broad dense evergreen tree that becomes narrow upright to spire-like with age. Mature height is 40 to 60 ft. tall with a spread of 10 to 20 ft. The foliage is a pleasant light green to bluish-green. One of the most environmentally tolerant spruces. White spruce can withstand wind, heat, cold, drought and light shade. Prefers full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Use as a specimen, windbreak or hedge. USDA hardiness zone 2 to zone 6.
