The October Magic Pink Perplexion Camellia from the Southern Living Plant Collection is a beautiful anomaly. Its name comes from the complex pink hue that its blooms sport. They're sort of soft pink, they might be hot pink, it's difficult to say. Either way, these blooms make heads turn. They're double petaled with a delicate appearance. Even better, they appear in huge numbers every fall. The foliage is dark green in color and evergreen. Each individual leaf is leathery and glossy, with serrated edges. This shrub features a naturally rounded shape and compact growth. It reaches 4 ft. - 5 in. H and 4 ft. - 5 ft. W at maturity. The October Magic Pink Perplexion Camellia is hardy from USDA Zones 7-9. However, we do recommend covering your plants during hard freezes for the first winter. Allow for 3-hours to 4-hours of direct sun or all-day filtered sun. Older plants can handle full sun exposure. Plant in slightly acidic, rich soil with good drainage for best results. Water 2-3 times per week for the first growing season. Fertilize with an acidic plant fertilizer in spring to promote new growth. Mulch with 3 in. - 4 in. of wood mulch to help retain moisture and protect your new plant's roots. These camellias are well-rooted in 2 Gal. pots and are approximately 12 in. - 16 in. tall. They are not guaranteed to be in bloom on arrival.
